platform: idact
I have been working on setting up this platform for the independent dance artists in Canberra. It all started as a result of a project that Ausdance ACT managed in 2009. Applicants propose a project which they want to develop with mentoring from dancer/choreographer Liz Lea. As Liz put her structure in place, it soon became clear that it was complex to manage. We all had very different needs, availabilities and more over lived far away from each other, which off course made it harder to meet on a regular basis.
But when we all got together (once it happened!) we found it very stimulating and healthy for our practice. This is when I thought of the idea of having an online platform. This would be the solution for us to keep in contact, share our work and discuss our artistic practice.

I think idact is a great project. There is no funding at this stage for an infrastructure, not even a studio that is available for us to work on our terms!
I really believe idact can provide a stimulating, inspiring, creative “space” for the Canberra based artists.
I need to have an artistic dialouge with my peers. I want us to create a platform were we can explore, discuss, create, stimulate and expose our work!
