I just came back from Sweden after a three week choreographic residency at Rorelsen in Malmo. We had three weeks in Mellan Studion were we developed a 25 minute work in progress. Sarah Neville as choreographer, Mia Holton as visual artist (also wrote parts of the script), Maitland Schnaars and Madeleine Karlssonand myself as performers. Michelle Outram joined in after a week to work with us on both visuals and sound.
We did two showings, one in the studio of Rörelsen for peers and one at Palladium theater, a gorgeous old style theater with painted sealing and wooden structure. I loved performing there. Will absolutely do that again when possible.
The work Remote Real looked at isolation as a theme - social, geographical and psychological. We used text written by dance artist Jo Pollit and Maitland Schnaars.
We ended up with a funny, fragmentet and intimate piece about three characters revealing their thoughts and needs.
We all lived in a house, occupying every little corner possible and somehow managed to keep the flow in a fairly smooth manner. Great dinners and lots of wine, as life should be appreciated!
I have some photos to share with you and we will be getting a video clip soon.
